Day 10 – Estero Fouque to Puerto Williams

The trip is nearly over and still no wind – it had been hoped that we’d get a westerly to at least sail back to Puerto Williams – it looked briefly that there may be a hint of wind and the Genoa was unfurled – the motor kept running and we motored back. Who’d believe that in 11 days no sailing due to a lack of wind, in an area re-known for its wind. It was great for the kayaking so that was the bonus.

There had been a light dusting of snow overnight and all the mountains were lightly dusted white making it a completely different look to the one we’d seen on the departure trip – very pretty.

A straight run though to Puerto Williams arriving in the evening. The Chilean Prefectura took our papers and arranged with Darrel to collect them at 8am when we would be cleared to leave. An evening’s walk into Puerto Williams – a real South American pisco sour before returning to the yacht to sleep.
